MOD Boscombe Down is shared by the Empire Test Pilot School and QinetiQ. ETPS train pilots to test aircraft. QinetiQ develop goverment assets such as weopons, aircraft and vichaels. It's this that has made Boscombe down a 'sensitive' airfield, often referred to as Britiains own Area 51. Boscombe is most famous for it's "Boscombe down incident" where an unknown mysterious aircraft crashed on its runway. After alot of US airforce activity and a road closure they later denied anything happened. Many visiting aircraft come into Boscombe for either upgrades or for the ETPS to evaluate.
