The drops that take place on the Salisbury Plain are almost 100% by C-130 Hercules.

Drops are normally put on for trainee loadmasters who have to take part in a certain amount of drops over a period of time to stay current. They have to take part both in the air and on the ground.

Drops can range from harness drops (water bottles) to larger double pallets. Specialist drops such as boats or landrovers are normally dropped over other places such as Keevil.
